I am old enough to remember when the Saturday matinee regularly had shorts which were often serialized tales of adventure and derring-do which often involved a cliff hanger. So what Jonathon Narvey has done quite successfully, is generated a page turning pop corn eating synthesis of all that was great in those elder days with liberal slathers of Cthulhu. If you loved Pacific Rim you will love this book as it belongs to a bygone era and is testament to the simple fact that just because it wont win any highfaluting awards does not make it execrable. It rates a high five of tentacles and if you have any interest in pulp and weird tales and also the resurgence of lovecraft then you should buy this and it will be a keeper. But try very hard to read it in small doses all you may just become giddy as it is probably not meant to be read in one sitting (although the temptation is there...what lies in the next chapter)Product details

i really love this book. don't want to talk about the plot, other than that it is very very smart and unpredictable. That is, things develop better than you would expect, and it's completely unpredictable -). that's a good thing! also, great hilarious characters.
the story is pretty tongue-in-cheek and told by a smart-ass boston detective. the style works and the book is really funny -- i flew right through it. it's all a bit silly, but it doesn't jump the shark, so you'll still take it seriously and get really into the adventure. enjoy!
Got this on a whim, and have been pleasantly surprised. started with the sample and could not put it down. got the full book and it has been a real fun read. Love the title, and the story is very well done. Please give this book a try, you will not regret it.
