“Five Weeks to Winning Bridge” is the book most frequently recommended and most often read by beginning bridge players. The material that is outdated will not make it hard to learn the new material since you will have the basic information down. Just check with a person who has played bridge for a number of years about any changes. That will be one that most bridge players tell you. This is THE best basic bridge book around. Anyone studying and learning the game with this book eventually will become an expert. I have played duplicate for years using Mr. Sheinwold's suggestions and have won over 3500 master points.

I have taken on learning Bridge!! Not simple!!! A friend who is a very accomplished Bridge player suggested that I purchase this book. It has been very helpful in simplifying the art of playing Bridge and emphasizes you don't have to memorize all the rules, etc., to make the game work - great relief as a beginning player. It's an "old" book, but a very good book!
I wanted the original so that my class would be studying from the same books---why mess with something that isn't broke and more expensive
Very old and raggedy.
This book is 50 years out of date. Buyers should be alerted to the copywrite date 1959. Expensive & useless for 21st century competitive bridge players. If you want to know how bridge was played 50 years ago, then buy the book. If you're looking to improve your modern game, don't throw money away on this book.
I had a copy previously and treasured it, but somehow it was misplaced which why I ordered this one. It is one of my very favorite bridge reference books. The logic is easy to understand and I have learned much from this book. Nothing real fancy--and no esoteric conventions--just the most useful ones, but countless tips of value. Every page will give you something to ponder and ,perhaps, a little pearl that will enhance your bridge.
